Letting Go Is Hard (But Oh-So Necessary)

Three years ago today I launched Bloom Beautifully, a self-care subscription box.

My goal was two-fold: I wanted to give women a care package to help them carve out time in an increasingly busy society.

And I also wanted to create a thriving community for those subscribers, so not only would they get bath bombs and journals and inspirational books, but they'd also have a place to call "home," where they could share their stories and learn from each other.

I managed to do both but not quite as cohesively as I'd hoped. The physical box dwarfed the community aspect and I was burnt out managing the business along with every other aspect of my personal life. (Not to mention fighting with USPS every week on shipment pick-ups and lost packages!)

But the main thing? I couldn't manage a self-care business if I wasn't even able to carve out enough time to handle my own self-care.

So late last summer, I decided to go on hiatus, reassess, and then relaunch with a new outlook.

I'll admit I hesitated.

Because change is hard.

It's hard to admit the thing you're doing is no longer serving you in its current form. That it's time to pivot, regroup, and try again another way.

This is true in relationships. Jobs. Friendships.

We tend to hang on longer than we should before we find the strength to shift. But a shift is a powerful thing, something that opens the door to relief.

If you feel like you've been holding your breath in a job, in a relationship, in a new project, take a minute to identify what changes you need to make.

Once you decide to take action…the right path will appear. Trust + believe.
